Abominable Snow Jam!

Mickey and I got to attend the Abominable Snow Jam, hosted by Nina Sky, Missbehave Magazine, Made Me clothing, and Cubannie Links.

the party was set in a warehouse and was really pretty awesome. We got there and got a chance to talk to stylist, Missbehave Market Editor, blogger (Around The Way Girls), and DJ; Radio Rose.

Annie Basulto aka Cubannie Links was doing free nail art with a purchase

Kaws Exhibit

I got the chance to visit the Kaws exhibit at the Gering & Lopez Gallery on 5th Ave recenetly. It's been on my list of things to see for a while,it was a pretty small space, but the exhibit had lots of bright colors and the use of bronze for the sculptures was pretty amazing.

Are you ready boots? Start walkin'!

I've never claimed to fashion forward, or on point with trends, even though I do love fashion and read a ridiculous amount of fashion magazines, blogs, etc...
So I purchased a pair of boots from Alloy about 2 weeks ago (a. because they were on sale, and b. I had a code for free shipping)

They're really comfy and are part of my crazy boot buying binge I've been currently going through. So when I was stalking boots on the Urban Outfitters boots section, I took notice of the fact that my boots looked a whole lot like the Miss Sixty boots that were being sold.

I paid $40 for the Alloy boots compared to the $350 of Urban Outfitters. Ummm score much???

Ugh.. Not Again!!??!!

So after getting a July release date, and then getting a name change from Koko B. Ware to Dream Date and getting pushed back to October, and then November, and subsequently January; Kid Sister's album Dream Date has yet again been pushed back to March!!!!!! I'm so sad, release the music!!! Please :-(

You sold your heart for the primal experience

I'm pretending that today isn't my birthday, yeah that's how much its sucked so far (like 80% suckage and for a b-day that's way too much)
So here's some new music. Formerly of the Distillers (who I loved in high school and still do), Brody Dalle began Spinnerette with Distillers bandmate Tony Bradley, former Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Jack Irons, and guitarist Alain Johannes from Queens of the Stone Age. I like the new sound, its still got a ton of energy to it. Oh dont like any of it, oh yeah I don't care.

My love she throws me like a rubber ball

The movie The Sweetest Thing came out about 6 years ago, and I have to admit that when I first saw it, I actually really liked it (there I've shamed myself) maybe it was because I was still in high school and didn't know any better. Yes, I thought it was funny despite Cameron Diaz (who I'm not a really a fan of), but I guess it was Christina Applegate and Selma Blair (who should've had more scenes and was butchered by Photoshop on the DVD cover {for realz look that ish up} in my opinion) who made the movie for me. One thing I've been obsessed with was the blue ring that Cameron's character, Christina was sporting throughout the whole movie (yes you read correctly I've been obsessed with a ring for about 6 years, I'm a girl, sue me)

Well last week while perusing Tinkerbell, the cheap-o accessory store at my mall I stumbled upon this...

Scar tissue that I wish you saw...

So, I'm either consistently in a state of nostalgia or regret about the past. One of my favorite dumb-ass moments occurred in 8th grade (Eeek, that was over 10 yrs ago :-o). After my two friends decided to DIY their belly button piercings (with success), I decided (out of boredom at about 1 AM on a Sunday night) to do the same. My choice of sterilization was that of taking a lighter to a safety pin for a few seconds and just "do or die" sticking it through some flesh, needless to say, I walked around with a safety pin through my belly button for roughly 2 weeks until it got infected and it looked like I had a pair of mouse testicles (do mice have testicles? I'm guessing yes) growing above my navel.:-/ I still have a scar, and whenever I bother to look at it, it still makes me laugh at what an idiot I was, plus my mom never found, I guess I'll tell her eventually...

This indecision’s bugging me

The Clash- Should I Stay or Should I Go

So once again it's come to this. I can't speak (or write) my mind without it being considered an assault, this is why I stopped writing on Myspace (because Information Travels Faster, "I intentionally wrote it (my final post) out to be an illegible mess.") it was getting personal and people felt the need to share and judge. I stuck with this because it was easy to get superficial and lately have found myself easing up on things, but apparently it's not supposed to go this way. I've spent too much of my time, smiling and nodding, agreeing, and yes-ing people to the point of which they feel as though they know me. Just like my horoscope analysis (yes I'm a nerd who believes in astrology) said "She can face conflicts in life due to a projection of character that doesn't match what is on the inside. Misrepresentation of the self is frequent. She must strive to understand how others perceive her and work on presenting a more accurate persona to the world, or she will rub people the wrong way or feel unrecognized and misunderstood."

And now that I've said what I feel I need to say. Read about Sarah Morrison's Brush with Meth

Look Fantastic in Casual Wear...Be Don Draper

They should have just called it Don Draper's Guide to Making Panties Drop.
I love Mad Men.

How about a Brown delicious to the face

I had completely forgotten about this, it's super old, Human Giant takes on music snobbery with "Indie Clerk Asshole" or "Other Music" as it's now called. Aziz Ansari is hilarious!

Quote of the day

"Is all you want adoration?"

~Fan (New Young Pony Club)

Some people should realize I don't play fan-girl to anyone.

Let's take a moment...

for a grammar lesson. This is quite possibly one of my biggest pet peeves: Loser and Looser are two completely different words with different meanings.

You're being totally one-sided

So I really like asymmetry and angles in a lot of things, one of those, being hair. That's why I've spent the past 2 weeks staring my dad's clippers; tempted to pick them up and do away with about 1/4 to 1/2 of my hair on one side, but I'm pretty sure it would look really stupid on me because I have a big head, unlike these cool girls:

I've had it up to here

So people have been annoying the crap out of me most of the week, for various reasons; which has got me feeling very 90s 'alt' (as Hipster Runoff would say) female singer this week, which I consider an improvement over the amount of Spank Rock I've been listening to and the gutter brain that comes as a result of that. So its been ranging from Hole, No Doubt, and PJ Harvey. Who knows maybe next week I'll move to another extreme, Female rappers? or Riot Grrl stuff , there's so much to decide on.

I miss Courtney Love's old nose.
Hole- Violet

I remember the first time I saw No Doubt, they were playing on Mtv Spring Break (remember when that was like a 2 week event, that was cool and exciting?)

and I thought 'Who is she, she's so cool' I hadn't heard anything like it so it completely refreshing and I've been a fan ever since.
No Doubt- Just a Girl

PJ Harvey-Dress Polly Jean is good almost anytime.

Hernandez. Gonzalez what's the difference?

Hey IMDB you should make sure that the news you post from WENN is proof-read.

(click pic for a better look)

I'm just saying.

Have you seen my childhood?

So sometimes I feel like I'm psychic case in point: 7th grade I had a dream that my Spanish teacher was hopping around saying "Mary, Mary quite contrary" I was all 'what the eff' when I woke up, sure enough that day one of the words we learned was "contrario" and my Spanish teacher hopped around saying, "Mary, Mary quite contrary" it freaked me out like crazy.

So on Wednesday when I saw the cover of the latest issue of Cosmogirl, and thought to myself, "Oh yeah I never renewed my subscription over the summer, I think Cosmogirl's going under soon cuz their issues have really sucked lately. I hope they can make it to their 10th anniversary next August, though" (I've been reading it since the 1st issue, which I still have as well as a ton of others btw, I hoard magazines like no ones business)
Well I think I broke Cosmogirl because Jezebel had this newsbreak this morning.

Oy there goes one of the vestiges of my teenage years.

'Cause nobody loves me, It's true

Dear VH1:
I've already placed MTv on permanent channel skip,

you're hanging by a thread; with all the bullshit you're going to start airing in addition to the bullshit you already air. Then again I only consider love to be a concept, so continue to mock it if you see fit.

Are they gonna fabricate the part to fix the hole in my lonely heart?

I effing love this remix. Seriously I play it at the very least 4 times a day; and this video is basically me on a weekend minus the actual getting up, dressed, and going out :-/

Ooh, So what You're saying...

Is that we're pretty much fucked.

Today is chalking up to being kinda sad already.
Dear Karmaloop,
You just couldn't have waited for me, Huh? I was waiting till Wednesday, my next payday to get these, with the code from Around the Way Girls

and now you've fucking sold out of my size, 10 :(.

Yogurt Battle

I love yogurt I have it basically everyday, if I had to choose one thing to have for all eternity it would be yogurt. I've been loving Fage yogurt ever since I found it at the supermarket early last spring. It's Greek so its supposed to be thicker than tradition American yogurts because of how it's strained or something. I've tried practically all the flavors of Fage. I had been ignoring its competition Oikos (who happens to be owned by Stonyfield Farms), and finally decided to give it a try and do a yogurt battle; to compare the two.
Fage separates the honey in a little side compartment, perfect for dipping your spoon in and drizzling over the yogurt; while Oikos has the honey on the bottom. I've found Fage to be a little more tart which I prefer in yogurt; meanwhile Oikos with honey is milder in flavor. Fage also offers the honey flavor in a full fat and low fat option both are totally nommy (as Yumna would say.) I stick to the Total 2% version, the regular Total is very good, but should only be had once in a while. Fage is really thick and smooth in its consistency and the honey has a really good mild flavor to compliment the tartness of the yogurt.

The Oikos tasted a bit like goat cheese which I like, but I wouldn't want to consume an entire 5 oz. tub of it. The honey was kinda runny and the flavor was a little off.

So I declare the winner of the yogurt battle to be Fage. Sorry Oikos, but you're kinda gross tasting :-/
